Financial services firms in the UK reported a more than threefold increase in the number of cybersecurity breaches to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in 2023 compared to just one year prior. From January to June specifically, there were more than 640 breaches, particularly targeting the pensions sector. Despite this increase in risks, there remains a shortage of skilled workers available to detect and protect against these threats.
